56 variants of genetically modified (GM) crocodiles made their home in Nanshun Crocodile Park in Jimei District last Sunday.

According to Xiao Chen a worker in the park, these crocodiles are all variants of genetically modified ones which are rare species. “They are relatively tame and inoffensive, perhaps they haven’t adapted to the environment yet, they cower away when people approach and are afraid of noises,” said Chen.

At present, these crocodiles are fed every three days and are scheduled to be fed everyday after June. "One crocodile can eat almost one kilo of chicken legs," said Xiao Chen.

These variants of crocodiles are to be opened to visitors during the coming Labour Day holiday which falls on this Friday.

With a total of 21 varieties and 2300 crocodiles, the Jimei Nanshun Crocodile Park is the largest indoor crocodile park in China
