This Le Meridien’s International Food Festival is to last till the 15th May 2015.
When we were invited to the seafood festival at Le Meridien in Xiamen, we were unaware of what we’d gotten ourselves into, and indeed it was a big surprise! It was the upmost indulgence of curry seafood, BBQ galore and assorted cuisine that Xiamen could ever offer. It is right at the doorstep of Xiamen Le Meridien. And the lethal weapon of the festival is the newly appointed executive chef of Le Meridien, Fai Chung, and his team.
It is properly the gathering of indulgence – the variety of seafood, the combination of South East Asian curry dishes, and a good mix of western, Asian and Chinese cuisine in one buffet under one roof. This Le Meridien International Food Festival is set to last till the 15th of May, 2015.
It was a mouth-watering journey of seafood discovery from the wet markets of Hong Kong to the shores of Malaysia, Thailand and the Pacific Islands. Some of the seafood is even very hard to find in Xiamen.
With a wide variety and good selection of seafood on beds of ice, you can find premium cuts of tuna, salmon, Pacific prawns, New Zealand green lip mussels, crayfish, lobster, octopus, sea crabs, mud crabs, and half shell scallops. The tuna and salmon are so fresh that you can eat them raw, as with Japanese Sashimi, or poached and eaten with some special sauces; the natural preparation method retains the original sweetness of the seafood and is best enjoyed with a twist of lemon or with the variety of Asian condiments available.

In the BBQ section, Chef Chung and his team freshly grill the seafood or meats of your choosing. This includes crab, lobster, prawns, cuttlefish, fish filet, and more. Featuring some of Le Meridien’s buffet signature dishes, such as seafood Paella, salmon on cruote and a roast carving, you can have your choice of seafood combo’s prepared by the chefs on the floor any way you like at their various cooking stations.
Of course, in addition to fresh and grilled seafood, there are plenty of traditional Chinese, European, Malaysian and Thai dishes to choose from on the buffet spread. Beef rendang, bok choy, biryani rice, Malaysian curry crab, Sambal prawn, roast meats, and more are among the many ready-to-eat cooked dishes you can choose from.

Be sure to leave room for the extensive dessert buffet with a mouth-watering selection of International and Chinese desserts. Argentina ice cream plus other assorted ice creams, together with a wide range of fresh regional fruits and many more sweet treats make the dessert bar like a magnet, attracting dessert lovers of all kinds.
After the dinner, we had the honor of having Chef Chung explain to us how he has created the dishes, some specially prepared by himself and others by his professional team.
