Ivan Wen is New Executive Chinese Chef at Conrad Xiamen

Conrad Xiamen recently appointed Mr. Ivan Wen (温卫清) as the hotel's executive Chinese chef. Chef Wen’s main job will be to run Lucheng’s kitchen and banquet facilities, and manage the chef team.

Chef Wen, who hails from Guangdong, has 30 years of culinary, kitchen, and banquet management experience. He has worked in numerous renowned international starred hotels as chief cook and manager of operations of kitchens and banquet services.

 

 

He was honored with the “Best 50” award conferred by China’s top star chef summit, and he has been named “Master of Catering in Guangzhou.”

Before serving at Conrad Xiamen, Chef Wen served at the Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou, for 9 years. During his tenure, Chef Wen earned a series of promotions for his excellent work and was eventually promoted to become the hotel’s Chinese restaurant executive sous chef.

 

Red Rice Rolls Dumpling is  a well known delicacy in Guangzhou, and Chef Wen is billed "Creator of Red Rice Rolls Dumpling" who has a solid patron group in Guangzhou.

 

 

 

While in Guangzhou, Chef Wen's reputation helped win the hotel high-profile receptions for many famous Chinese public figures, including Chow Yun-fat (周润发), Jacky Cheung (张学友), and Yao Ming (姚明). Chef Wen's superb cooking skills helped to make the Chinese restaurant he served in Guangzhou a highly popular dining destination.

 

 

 

Chef Wen’s main talent lies in his ability to use new and non-traditional ingredients combined with special local cooking methods to create a brand-new gastronomic experience, bringing completely new and surprising experiences to food lovers. Chef Wen says that the selection of ingredients is the key to making superior cuisine, and he embraces the current trend that combines good food and health awareness.

 

 

 

Chef Wen attached great importance to the tastes and preferences of his guests when developing Lucheng’s menu. After a thorough study of the ingredients available on the gourmet market, Lucheng’s menu is designed to include Guangdong cuisine and a corresponding proportion of other cuisines, including Minnan (Southern Fujian) cuisine, so as to meet the needs of different customers.

 

 

Chef Wen will continue his work from Lucheng at Conrad Xiamen, continuing to develop a new world of Chinese delicacies with his imagination and creativity.
