Conrad Xiamen going Thai, grand opening for Food Festival

On August 3rd, 2018, after a ribbon-cutting, Conrad Xiamen officially announced the opening of its new Thai Food Festival. The festival features a variety of mouth-watering Thai cuisine, as well as traditional Thai dance performances by a dance team from Thailand, raffle drawings with generous prizes, and fun interactive games.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Michael Schmitt, General Manager of Conrad Xiamen, delivers a welcome speech on behalf of the hotel.

  


Dr. Phaichit Viboontanasam, secretary-general of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, delivers a speech on behalf of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China.

 


Mr. Chumpol Jangprai, celebrity chef and Iron chef of Thailand, gives an introduction to the Thai cuisine that will be featured at the festival.

- Ms. Liu Yixiu, assistant to the president of Shanghai Shimao Hotel Management Co., Ltd.
- Ms. Wang Jinxia, consul of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen
- Dr. Jiang Qingquan, representative of Fujian and Jiangxi provinces in the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Guangzhou office
- Dr. Phaichit Viboontanasam, secretary-general of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, and his wife
- Mr. Prasert Tanhansa, General Manager of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Xiamen office)
- Ms. Zheng Yule from Charoen Pokphand Trading International (CPTI)
- Mr. Hou Jianguo from Golden International Corporation

 

 

The food festival’s chef is Thai Iron Chef Chumpol Jangprai.

 

 

 

From sweet and sour Tom Yum Koong soup, to spicy Thai curry, steamed fish with lemon lime, Thai deep-fried fish cakes, seafood fried rice, Thai desserts, and tropical fruits — you can try them all at the Thai food festival.

 

 

 

 

 

Raffle prizes are different each week. This week's special prize is a box of Nam Dok Mai Mango imported from Thailand. All diners who enjoy a lavish buffet dinner at Pier 38 during the Thai food festival can take part in the raffle. For more details, please consult the restaurant.


First week’s raffle prizes:
First prize: A room voucher for a two-night stay at Hilton Bangkok (one winner)
Second prize: An iSPA massage coupon and a bottle of Eucalyptus globulus (pure essential oil) (one winner) 
Third prize: A Pier 38 buffet dinner voucher (two winners)
Fourth prize: A Pier 38 buffet lunch voucher (two winners)
Fifth prize: A Laytex foam (pillow) ( one winner)
Sixth prize: A bag of Royal Umbrella Jasmine Fragrant Rice

This Thai Food Festival, jointly organized by Conrad Xiamen, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen, the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, and Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Xiamen office), and sponsored by a number of major Thai companies, is an excellent platform for improving cultural bonds between Xiamen and Thailand. The hotel and its partners hope to "build a bridge" between Xiamen and Thailand so that Xiamen citizens can enjoy top-level authentic Thai cuisine and experience Thai culture without going abroad!

 

 

 

Through the food festival and the prizes sponsored by participating Thai companies, diners can not only gain a deeper understanding of Thai cuisine, but also develop a better understanding of Thailand's tourism, culture, and economic trade.

 

 

 

 

The festival will last one month, from August 3rd to September 3rd, 2018.
