Xiamen's Bus Rapid Transport (BRT)

Aiming to provide easy access to public transportation for urban residents, the Xiamen Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) was opened to traffic on August 31, 2008. As the first elevated BRT system in China, Xiamen BRT was constructed as an overhead viaduct that crosses the downtown area. It has no traffic lights along the entire line to ensure smooth and prompt passage.
